The Campaign On Campus
Hold a “counter-marketing”
tabling event on campus. To educate the student body about problems
with credit cards, get students to support the principles for responsible
credit card marketing, as well as to get press coverage of the issue on campus
and off, you can hold a mock credit card marketing table. Send your name, your campus, and your contact
phone number to chris.lindstrom@pirg.org and we’ll set you up with the materials to do
it.
Get your student government to support
the principles for responsible credit card marketing. The student government is the legitimate voice for
students as recognized by the campus administration. Getting them to pass a resolution in support
of the principles and sending that resolution to the college president will
influence the president in the right way.
Meet with your college president. Set up a
meeting with your college president and ask that she or he support the
principles. College presidents are
concerned about these issues but it hasn’t risen to the level of priority for
action. Your face to face request can
change all of that.
